「ちょっと嬉しいです」

ちょっと落ち着いた夏に日差しがほどよくて、のんびりした午後を過ごしております。ゆったりとした扇風機の風だけで充分に心地よいですね。ただ、蝉の声だけはいっそう激しくなって来てちょっとウルサイです。まあ、蝉達も1週間の命を精一杯謳歌していると思えば我慢できますがね。

アノ人が芸能人を引退したとか。ううむ・・・会見の様子を見ていると、な〜んかまだまだ隠していることがありそうだなと感じました。今日になり、ワイドショー番組でアレコレとその隠されていた部分がホジクリ返されておりました。なるほど！そう言うことだったのね。と、14年前の事件の実態を知りました。知ったからって、どうってことないですが。

簡単に構図を書くと、スタートは本人が番組内で政治的発言をしたと。それに対して右翼団体が敏感に反応して嫌がらせが続いたと。かといって誰も助けてくれず、自分でも対処できず、困り果ててA氏に愚痴ったと。そこでA氏が気を効かせて暴力団幹部B氏に相談し、B氏が右翼団体と話をつけて事態が沈静化したと。それに感謝したアノ人は、長年に渡りメールや手紙で連絡を取り合っていたと。「口は災いの元」ってことですか。

そして今日は、テレビ局各社が冠番組の後始末にバタバタしているようですね。これって、結局司会者の一極化が招いた結果であると。同じ人物が、あんなに多くの番組を仕切っていたのはテレビ局の怠慢のような気がしますが。ちなみに、アノ人は当家内の「嫌いなタレントランキング」では男性部門1位でありました。


さて本日のお話です。

以前、サンフランシスコにあるペダルボード・アッセンブル会社についてご紹介したことがあるのですが。その会社 Vertex Effects Systems は、ニュースレターで時々業績の情報を送ってきます。「今月はこんな仕事をしたよ！」ってね。 さらにこの会社は「弾駆動」の存在を知り、私に対して協力してくれないかと1年ほど前に申し入れてきました。お客から「なにかいいオーバードライブ知らない？」と問われたら、まず弾駆動を推奨するので、オーダーがあったらスムーズに供給してほしいと言うのです。その協力関係を了解した私です。ところが、それ以来まだ一度もそのようなオーダーが来ていません。期待もしていないのですがね。

本日になり、久々に Vertex Effects Systems からニュースレターが送られてきました。タイトルは・・・。

VERTEX - Henry Kaiser/Eddie Martinez Pedalboards

となっていました。ン？ンンン？タイトルを良く読むと「Henry Kaiser」「Eddie Martinez」の名前が入っています。あららら！二人が同じ時期にペダルボードを組んでもらったんですね。二人とも弾駆動ユーザーなのですが・・・。

そして、完成したボードの画像が添付されていました。画像で見ると、２つとも一番手前真ん中に弾駆動が組み込まれているのが確認できますね。ちょっと嬉しいです。以下はそのメールニュースの一部転載です。


Hello all!

This month we've been busy doing work for some great musicians - Henry Kaiser and Eddie Martinez. Both guys are amazing players and great people. Please enjoy the pictures and descriptions of their rigs below.

Firstly, we have a pedalboard I did for guitar great, Henry Kaiser.

Henry wanted a rig to travel with that fit standard airport carry-on size requirements. I had built Henry a much larger rig in the past for his studio however he wanted an additional smaller/simpler rig for fly dates and traveling.

INTERFACE:

Passive Input (for Fuzz pedals), 2x Effects Loop Break-Outs (for two independent sets of external effects to be patched into the rig from off of the pedalboard), Tuner Out (to SR Turbo Tuner), Vertex Buffer (output buffer)

Secondly, we have a pedalboard that I did for guitarist Eddie Martinez. Eddie is one of the greats! He's toured and done sessions with everyone from David Lee Roth, Robert Palmer, Run DMC, etc. and still does a lot of amazing work up in Portland, OR.

Eddie was looking for a rig that would give him a lot of flexibility to patch in pedals off the pedalboard by using strategically placed inserts between his distortion and modulation pedals. This way he could add pedals off of the pedalboard that could be used for any number of purposes (other overdrives, modulation, or time-based pedals). Everything is running in front of Suhr Badger or CAA OD100 with Suhr guitars or a 1970 Les Paul Custom.

The rig is very cool with an extremely organic vibe to it, plus it has a lot of my favorite pedals on it (COT50, Prototype Deja Vibe, Dumkudo, Vertex BC109 Fuzz, Vertex Axis Wah, Vertex modded SCH-1, WET Reverb). I don't want to send this thing back!

INTERFACE:

Passive input for fuzz, patchable buffer, insert "break-out" point between distortion and modulation pedals for additional effects to be wired off the pedalboard, mono out to amplifier.
